A review of the 2nd annual open consumption event at NuWu Cannabis
420, Wrestlemania, and Easter all fell on the same day, and Las Vegas was at the epicenter of the historic occasion. Easter won't fall on April 20th again until 2087, but forget bunnies and colored eggs, we're talking buds, hash and edibles in the city of sin.Â
NuWu Cannabis, a dispensary in Vegas, successfully hosted the first annual 420 State Fair in 2024, leading to the 2nd annual celebration in 2025. NuWu boasts 40,000 square feet of space, making it the largest dispensary in the world according to their website. This includes indoor and outdoor space, along with a rooftop deck, and the Sky High Lounge that stays open for consumption all year.Â
Now let's get into the event itself by highlighting some key factors, and conclude if the admission price was justified. Highlight video below followed by full breakdown with photos.
Cannabis Consumption:
In the event materials, attendees were told not to bring in outside cannabis products, as NuWu dispensary "has all of your favorite Nevada cannabis products available for purchase" as they put it. Honestly, this rule didn't seem to be heavily enforced, as myself and the person I came with brought in some joints. We kept it very modest though.
True to their word, NuWu had every type of cannabis product available including flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, vape cartridges, and edibles. The prices weren't outrageous, and some brands were on special for 42 percent off. We bought some infused joints, cannabis craft cocktails, and a couple eighths. A dab bar bar was also available.
Consumption is supposed to be limited to the outdoor areas and the Sky High Lounge, and that rule was kept in tact, as we didn't witness anyone blazing up in the dispensary area.

Activities
The games were well thought out and organized. There were games you'd expect to find at a carnival such as arcade basketball hoops (pop-a-shot), ring toss, fishbowl toss and a handful of others. The most pleasant surprise was being gifted 4 free game passes upon entry.
Each game featured an organizer or official to keep track of high scores. The highest score for each game would be awarded a grand prize, such as a Dr. Dabber or something along those lines. Every participant received free gifts though. We walked away with portable power banks.
There was one ferris wheel in the outdoor area, but it cost extra. We liked the idea of blazing an infused joint while on the wheel, but we didn't feel like going through the process of getting the tickets for it (blame it on the infused cannabis drinks making it feel too complicated).
Contests were held every hour, including categories such as "most joints rolled in 2 minutes", or "best blunt rolled in 30 seconds". I wish I had more time at the event to enter the joint rolling competition.

Atmosphere
The DJs, emcees, and live music performers helped bring the celebratory atmosphere alive. The staff from entrance to exit all seemed happy to be there, and were accommodating of attendees needs. The space was kept clean and free of litter as well, which is a small detail that elevates ambience. Perhaps my only critique while I was there, would be to play more well-known stoner music or smoking songs to take the vibe to another level.
The rooftop deck outside offers the most stunning view. Panning around the rooftop to see the city of Las Vegas with the mountains as a backdrop while smoking a joint is the definition of euphoria (check that highlight video if you skipped it).
The vendors were super chill, and not overly pushy with their products. Once I did have questions, they were receptive to providing information.
The people in attendance to any event is always a major wildcard, but we met some cool people throughout our journey at the 420 state fair, and enjoyed some cannabis-infused conversations. There was also no shortage of decorative cannabis-themed clothing, including the shirts we handed out for free.

Logistics
NuWu is located close to the Fremont Street area, and is roughly a 3-5 minute drive, or 20-25 minute walk from there. The strip is a 10-15 minute drive, 44 minute bus ride, or over 2 hours walking if you're feeling ambitious. There wasn't much parking in the area, so it's best to get a ride or walk if you can.
The event ran from 12pm to 12am, but we only attended for a couple hours. Guests are welcome to leave and come back throughout the event. I appreciated the flexible attendance options.
Overall - Is it worth it?
Compared to numerous other cannabis events I've attended in the past, the 420 State Fair at NuWu Cannabis would be considered top tier. At the $25 price point for a standard ticket, it just might be the best bang for my buck I've ever gotten at a cannabis event. It had everything I'd want and expect, and even went above and beyond in certain areas such as the entertainment and variety of available cannabis products.
I'd consider the 420 State Fair at NuWu the perfect complimentary event if you're already planning an April trip to Vegas, but if they start acquiring more well-known musicians and entertainers, I could easily see this becoming a marquee event that warrants a trip all on its own. Excited to see this event continue to grow and evolve, and NuWu will be on my visit list anytime I hit Las Vegas from now on - just to smoke on that rooftop deck again. Cheers to the organizers and the owners at NuWu.
