Research finds cannabis isn't the gateway drug it was hyped to be

Research conducted by CU Boulder, University of Minnesota, and CU Anschutz Medical Campus found that cannabis legalization has no bearing on potential for abusing other substances. Contrary to this often misdirected belief, the data showed that cannabis may actually help with reducing alcohol abuse.

The study collected data from over 4,000 sets of twins to help account for numerous variables such as age, socioeconomic background, and genetic inheritance among other attributes. The study also found no link between cognitive, psychological, social, relationship or financial problems based on legalized cannabis.
