Cheddar Cheeze By Somatic

Close-up of a Cheddar Cheeze cannabis bud, displaying green and brown hues with visible texture of orange hairs.

Strain: Cheddar Cheeze

How it’s marketed: Hybrid

Genetics: (CakeMints x Platinum GSC) x Gorilla Diesel.

Aroma (in jar and ground up): When I first got the batch, it smelled like classic funky cheese, but as time went on, the aroma transitioned to more of a sweet yogurt. In both instances, aroma gets funkier upon grinding.

Taste: Taste favors the lineage of the cake and cookies strains, providing a sweet creamy smoke for the most part. It gets a touch sour at times.

How it Smokes (smooth, harsh etc.): Smooth

Medical or Recreational: Medical

THC percentage: 27.77

Effects: After a few hits, it feels euphoric and upbeat, very apt for conversation. Once I consumed a heavier amount for my tolerance, I found myself getting lost in random thoughts repeatedly. Very difficult to stay on task during those occasions. For example, at the grocery store, I’d be searching for an item, then randomly drift off into a completely unrelated aisle.

Overall: Standing Akimbo’s in-house medical grow operation has rebranded to Somatic. From my early experiences, it’s a warranted rebrand due to the surprisingly higher quality from the previous outputs. The first strain I tried from the new operation was Pirate Juice, which ended up being top notch. Now, this Cheddar Cheeze has been a delightful throwback to the classic funky, cheesy profile. The smell and flavor have that signature robust range of qualities from cheetos to sweet yogurt. If you can catch this while it’s in stock next time, I’d highly recommend it based on this first run, and I’m certainly putting it in the rotation when I see it. Great job from the rebranded squad at Akimbo.
